SELECT A PREFERRED SHIPPING WINDOW IN THE ‘SELECT SHIPPING WINDOW’ SECTION OF THE ‘SHOP’ MENU. ADD IT TO YOUR CART BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT. I LIST THE RECOMMENDED ZONES FOR EACH SHIPPING WINDOW THERE. IF YOU DON’T ADD ONE TO YOUR CART, I WILL GO BY YOUR ZONE AND SHIP ACCORDINGLY.
MANY TUBER SHIPPERS HOLD OFF UNTIL APRIL 1 BUT I AM A SOUTHERN GROWER AND AM USUALLY ABLE TO SAFELY SHIP EARLIER.
FOR THOSE EARLY BIRDS IN THE NORTH, PLEASE NOTE THAT MY TUBERS ARE ACCLIMATED TO THE DAYLIGHT CHANGES HERE AT LATITUDE 36.15 N. SUPPLEMENTAL LIGHTING IS HELPFUL IN WAKING THEM UP BECAUSE OUR DAYS BECOME LONGER EARLIER THAN YOURS AND WHEN THEY TRAVEL TO YOUR SHORTER DAYS, THEY WILL WAIT UNTIL THEIR PREFERRED DAYLENGTH TO BECOME ACTIVE. THIS DIFFERS FROM ONE VARIETY TO THE NEXT.

THIS IS MY ‘GRAY AREA’ WINDOW IN REGARDS TO ZONE 6 BECAUSE IT IS STILL SIX WEEKS AWAY FROM PLANTING TIME FOR ZONE 6, ALTHOUGH SHIPPING IS TYPICALLY SAFE THIS TIME OF YEAR. IF YOU ARE IN ZONE 6 AND SELECT THIS DATE, I WILL HOLD OFF A WEEK IF THERE IS A COLD STORM PASSING THROUGH THE COUNTRY.
MID-APRIL: THIS SHIPPING WINDOW IS FINE FOR CUSTOMERS IN USDA ZONES 5-7
LATE APRIL-EARLY MAY: THIS SHIPPING WINDOW IS FOR CUSTOMERS IN USDA ZONES 3-7
I HAVE ALWAYS HAD GREAT SUCCESS SHIPPING TUBERS ALL THE WAY INTO ZONE 5 BEGINNING IN APRIL BECAUSE THEY ARE INSULATED IN THEIR PACKING MATERIAL AND PRIORITY MAIL MOVES THEM QUICKLY FROM MY FARM TO YOUR ADDRESS.
IF YOU ARE GROWING IN A COLDER REGION AND WANT ME TO HOLD OFF ANOTHER WEEK FROM THIS- THE LAST SHIPPING WINDOW- PLEASE REACH OUT VIA CUSTOMER SERVICE EMAIL NEXT APRIL AND WE CAN ADJUST YOUR SHIP DATE ACCORDINGLY, BUT NO LATER THAN MID-MAY.
I AM IN ZONE 6A AND THE GROUND ISN’T WARM ENOUGH TO PLANT UNTIL AROUND MID-MAY- WEATHER DEPENDANT
PLEASE NOTE that by selecting a date EARLIER than outlined above for your growing zone, you assume all risk and responsibility for transit damage due to freezing, winter storage, and potting up tubers for any and all intentions.
Goldenrod Gardens reserves the right to delay shipping if there is extreme inclement weather weather passing through the country. Don’t worry, they will go out as soon as it is safe to do so.
