Nuit D'ete- If you speak French, you probably already knew that Nuit d’Ete means translates to ‘summer night’. I don’t speak the language and you should have heard my embarrassing attempt at pronunciation before I let my handy translator app school me… and I still can’t say it in an elegant way. Nevertheless, I’m always on the lookout for good black flowers and Dahlia ‘Nuit D’Ete’ does not disappoint. The 3-4” cactus form flowers bloom consistently throughout the season on long thin stems that were great for cutting- I had about 4 flushes from each plant! The 3’ plants will also make a great addition to the border garden- mix with other black flowers and use silver foliaged plants around them to really set off their color!
