Primrose Queen (2023) This is the first release of my ‘chalky’ dahlias. Primrose Queen’s matte, pale yellow with a faint pink center highlight 4.5” FD flowers have great lateral buds on each stem that I leave because I like they way they look and the main flower has not lost it's shine when those bloom. Who has time to disbud over 8000 plants on a weekly basis anyway? The color becomes lighter later in the season and the centers are very small. Strongly vertical, 5.5’ tall plants have matte, waxy foliage with the slightest blue-grey cast. Not just ideal for cut flowers, I wouldn’t hesitate putting this stately cultivar at the back of a mixed border.
